Received: Sept. 8, 2008 Subject: Item for School Newspaper or Alumni Newletter Dear Webmaster, I'm not sure if Analy High School currently has a student newspaper or an alumni newsletter, but if it does, I would appreciate your passing along this small world story. My name is Craig Schmid, Analy High School Class of 1980.  I recently made a trip to Tanzania in East Africa for a safari and to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro.  Shortly after dawn on the morning of Monday, August 25, 2008, I found myself standing at the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest point in Africa, at 19,340 feet above sea level.  I was not alone.  I believe about 100 people tried to reach the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro that morning and at least a third of them made it. I heard a young man in front of me say that he was from California, so we started talking.  I told him that I was from Berkeley.  He said that he was a teacher in Marina del Rey (Los Angeles County) and was in Africa on a honeymoon with his new wife.  His name was Marty Brewer.  He said that he grew up in Sebastopol.  So, I said that I went to Analy High School.  It turns out that Marty graduated from Analy High School in 1996.  He asked if I knew Marty Webb and I said that he was my World History teacher during the 1977/78 school year.  (I now see that Marty Webb just retired as principal last spring.) So, I went to the opposite side of the world and climbed to a remote mountain top in order to meet someone from my home town who went to the same high school as me.  It's definitely a small world. Thanks, Craig Craig Schmid
