About Us

* Since its inception in 1995, Analy High School's Speech and Debate Team has qualified varsity members to the state championships. In 2008, Analy's debate team left the state tournament as first place champions among division "A" schools.  This historic achievement was made possible by six seniors who had competed on Analy's team for four years: Autumn Burnes, Kyla Coulter, Chris Catterton, Michael Millerick, Harrison Noah, and Sam Stafford.

* Analy's team is a member of the Golden Gate Speech Association (GGSA) league, the California High School Speech Association(CHSSA), and the National Forensic League(NFL). Analy speakers place in the finals at nearly every league tournament. Our league is ranked #1 in the state and is among the top ten in the nation. In 2008, Chris Catterton was one of two Lincoln Douglas debaters from the San Francisco Bay Area who earned the right to compete at  the National Championships.

* In addition to competing in local league tournaments and national invitationals, team members speak at local service club organizations for scholarship money. Analy students earn thousands of dollars every year in Lion's Club, Rotary, and Veterans of Foreign Wars speaking contests.  We have had state finalists in the VFW oral essay contest for the past three consecutive years.

* Analy's team boasts an 86-member roster.  Many of the students participate in parliamentary debate, some perform only individual event speeches, and others do it all! Last year, 26 graduating seniors had earned degrees from the National Forensic League--five of those seniors held the highest degree possible from the NFL honor society.

* Analy's coach was named the Golden Gate Speech Association's coach of the year in 2000, and in 2005 she was inducted into the California High School Speech Coaches' Hall of Fame.
