Welcome!

Welcome to the grade nine counselor blog!
My aim is to share with you, students and parents, what’s happening in the world of helping our Analy ninth graders adjust to their freshman year of high school. This year, for the first time, Analy has committed my energy to a single class. In the past, we counseled students strictly by last name and it made for a very different experience having students in all four grades. This year, I find myself focusing on the issues of our freshmen without the distractions of college advising or worrying over my seniors and if they will have enough credits to graduate. It has allowed me to go into more depth with my ninth graders and their parents. I’m beginning to see commonalities in your concerns and, so, I’m going to try and make entries in this blog that will be of help to you, my students and their parents, during this 2008-9 school year. My thanks to Professor Pat Jackson of SSU who is THE web guru. I’ll try and make at least one meaningful entry for you each week. So, bookmark my blog and feel free to get back to me with your questions or comments…. Joseph Heil, Gr. 9 Counselor, Analy High School
