1 year; 10 credits; Grade 12 (Eng.)

Pre-requisites: Minimum requirement of ‘B’ or better in current English course; a teacher assessment form from current English teacher; a student self-assessment form; a letter of interest in taking the course; satisfactory performance on a written exam; successful completion of summer reading and essay assignments.

 

Students will read selections of all genres of world literature. Novels and dramas may include Medea, The Cherry Orchard, The Misanthrope, Crime and Punishment, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Death of a Salesman, and several other titles. These will be augmented by poetry, short stories, and non-fiction selections. Writing will focus upon literary analysis in preparation for the AP Literature and Composition Exam. Students will be responsible for a rigorous and rewarding reading and writing requirement.
