American Literature and composition are the major foci of this
course. The study of literature will complement the U.S. History course.
Students will read two plays, The Crucible, and Hamlet, and two novels,
The Great Gatsby, and The Things They Carried. Students will also read
excerpts from The Grapes of Wrath. Students will continue to develop
their skills in literary analysis, composition and style.
